Russian military personnel continue to assist their Syrian counterparts in patrolling the Golan Heights
Russian military personnel continue to assist Syrian government army units in patrolling the area around the "Bravo" line dividing the Golan Heights between Syria and Israel.
During the civil war in Syria, the province of Quneitra (on its territory are the Golan Heights) was almost completely captured by terrorists. They managed to dislodge them only two years ago. Illegal armed groups were able to hold this area for a long time, because at any dangerous moment they went to the disputed territory — beyond the "Bravo" line, which the Syrian troops cannot cross.
To date, Russian military personnel have equipped five well-fortified posts along the buffer zone. The territory along the "Bravo" line is controlled by military police patrols of the Russian Armed Forces. At the same time, local residents have a positive attitude towards Russian servicemen.
"Children go to this place almost every day. This is already a tradition we have developed. If they hear that a military convoy is coming, then today they will be brought sweets or fruit. We are sincerely grateful to the Russian servicemen for such attention, " said local resident Sabhi Jumma.
