Briefing of the Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Control of the Movement of Refugees in the Syrian Arab Republic (October 8, 2021)
Work continues in the Syrian Arab Republic to resolve the conflict in a non-military manner and to provide comprehensive assistance to Syrian citizens in restoring peaceful life.
Over the past day, representatives of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides held a humanitarian action in the village of Tafas in the province of Deraa, during which food packages with a total weight of 4.15 tons were issued to the population.
Since the beginning of the settlement process, the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides has conducted 3,025 humanitarian actions. The total weight of humanitarian cargo delivered exceedes 5,2 thousand tons.
The implementation of the provisions of the Russian-Turkish Memorandum of Understanding adopted on October 22, 2019 continues.
Another Russian-Turkish patrol took place along the M4 highway in Aleppo province from the checkpoint Jarih-el-Faukani to Tell-Shair and back. Russian military police units conducted patrols in Aleppo province along the routes Ajami-Membij and back, Ajami-Karakozak and back, in the provinces of Raqqa and Hasakeh from Ain-Isa to Tell-Tamer and back; in Hasakeh province along the route Qamishliya – Ain-Divar and back.
On the section of the M4 highway between the settlements of Ain-Isa and Tell-Tamer, the Russian military police ensured the safe movement of 809 people and 343 pieces of equipment during the day.
Measures to stabilize the situation in the province of Deraa are continuing. With the mediation of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the warring parties in the settlements of Sayda, Khel, En-Naim, El-Jiza, Mutaya, Bed-Suleiman-Amman, Nada, 236 people settled their status in a day, 75 weapons were handed over, more than 1 thousand ammunition.
Over the past day, 9 attacks were recorded in the Idlib de-escalation zone from the positions of the Jabhat-al-Nusra terrorist group (no attacks were recorded by the Syrian side). In Idlib province, 1 shelling was registered, in Aleppo province – 3 shelling, in Hama province - 2 shelling, in Latakia province - 3 shelling.
In Aleppo province, militants of illegal armed formations operating in the territory controlled by the Turkish armed forces fired artillery from the area of the settlement of Jibrin at the positions of government forces in the area of the settlement of Maraanaz. As a result, one Syrian soldier was wounded.
The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides urges leaders of illegal armed formations to cease hostilities and move towards peaceful settlement of the situation in areas they occupy, and ensure delivery of humanitarian relief to Syrian civilians.
