Briefing by Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring in Syria (January 11, 2020)

Work continues in the Syrian Arab Republic to resolve the conflict in a non-military manner and to provide comprehensive assistance to Syrian citizens in restoring peaceful life.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides has held no humanitarian actions over the past day.

Since the beginning of the settlement process, the Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides has conducted 2,680 humanitarian actions. The total weight of humanitarian cargo delivered amounts to 4,6 thousand tons.

The joint efforts of Russia and Turkey continue to implement the provisions of the Russian-Turkish Memorandum of understanding as of October 22, 2019.

Russian military police units continued patrolling in the Membij area of Aleppo province from Ajami along two routes in the direction of Membij and Karakozak.

The 121th joint Russian-Turkish patrol took place in the Aleppo province along the route from Garib to Tell-Hajeb and back.

Russian military police units conducted patrols in Raqqa province along the route from Ain-Isa to Al-Tell-Tamer and back.

Units of the Russian military police continued to escort civilian vehicles on the section of the M4 highway between the settlements of Ain-Isa in Raqqa province and Tell-Tamer in Al-Hasakah province. Over the past day, 236 vehicles and 352 people were escorted. A total of 36,711 vehicles and 69,475 people have been escorted since May 25.

Over the past day, no attacks were registered by illegal armed groups (IAG) controlled by Turkey.

At the same time, in the Idlib de-escalation zone, 21 attacks were recorded from the positions of the "Jabhat al-Nusra" terrorist group (including 14 attacks according to the Syrian side), of which 10 attacks were recorded in Idlib province, 3 attacks in Aleppo province, and 8 attacks in Latakia province.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides urges leaders of illegal armed formations operating  in the Idlib de-escalation zone to cease hostilities and move towards peaceful settlement of the situation in areas they occupy.
