Briefing by the Centre for Reconciliation and Control of the movement of refugees in the Syrian Arab Republic (May 21, 2020)

Work continues in the Syrian Arab Republic to resolve the conflict in a non-military manner and to provide comprehensive assistance to Syrian citizens in restoring peaceful life.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides has held no humanitarian actions over the past day. Since the beginning of the settlement process, the Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides has conducted 2,420 humanitarian actions. The total weight of the humanitarian cargo was 4,021.4 tons. Medical specialists of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation provided assistance to 132,874 residents of Syria.

1,100 food packages with a total weight of 7.23 tons were issued to the civilian population through local self-government bodies in the localities of Mukhmar Budshak, Abu Djebbar (Aleppo province).

The joint efforts of Russia and Turkey continue to implement the provisions of the Russian-Turkish Memorandum of understanding as of October 22, 2019.

A joint Russian-Turkish patrol took place along the route Jarich-al-Faukani - Sharhli-al-Faukani - Zor-Mgar - Belun - Jubb-el-Faraj-Kula-Buyan-Dikmatash - Jarih al-Faukani in Aleppo province.

Patrols of the Russian military police continue along the route:

Hatla-Salhiyah-Hatla in the province of Deir Ez-Zor.

In accordance with the Russian-Turkish agreements, a ceasefire was introduced in the Idlib de-escalation zone from 00:01 on March 6, 2020. Over the past day, no attacks were registered by illegal armed groups controlled by Turkey.

However, there were recorded 1 attack on Miznaz, 1 attack on Dadikh and 1 attack on Maaret Mukhous, and 1 attack on Melladjah settlement in Idlib province from the positions of the terrorist organization Jabhat al-Nusra.

A special continuous communication channel has been created between the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Sides and the Turkish side for operational interaction.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides urges leaders of illegal armed formations operating  in the Idlib de-escalation zone to cease hostilities and move towards peaceful settlement of the situation in areas they occupy.
