Bulletin of the Russian Defence Ministry on ceasefire observation (May 7, 2017)
Operational situation in the areas of de-escalation zone creation according to the Memorandum in the Syrian Arab Republic is assessed as stable by all opposing sides.
Control groups continue monitoring the ceasefire observation within the implementation of the Memorandum on creation of the de-escalation zones in the Syrian Arab Republic, which had been signed by the Russia, Turkey, and Iran on May 4, 2017.
Within last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 18 cases of firing in the provinces of Damascus (10), Latakia (3), Daraa (3), and Hama (2). The Turkish party has registered 15 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Damascus (2), Daraa (3), Hama (7), and Homs (3).
Cases of unselective firing from small arms have been registered in the areas controlled by insurgents of the ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra.
Mortar shelling carried out by insurgents near Zellaqiyat (21 km to the north-west from Hama) against positions of the government troops was one the most resonant ceasefire violation registered by the Russian party.
The Turkish party has confirmed that the insurgents were from the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist grouping and agreed to take operative measures to recover the ceasefire regime.
