Briefing by Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria (June 12, 2019)

Peaceful settlement of the conflict and rendering of comprehensive assistance are the main vectors of work in the Syrian Arab Republic.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides has held no humanitarian actions over the past day.

Despite the ceasefire regime being established throughout the country, there were still cases of ceasefire regime violation by illegal armed formations in the Idlib de-escalation zone. On June 11, militants carried out twelve shelling attacks against the settlements of Mamuhiyah, Kinsabba, Eyn-al-Naur, Jubb-al-Zarur, Akch-Bayer, al-Areneymi, Mamuhiyah and Jubb al-Zarur in Latakia province, Marzaf, Hama province, Sabiqiya, Aleppo province, as well as northern outskirts of Aleppo city.

On the initiative of the Russian side, with the mediation of Russia and Turkey, an agreement was reached on a complete ceasefire regime to be established in the entire Idlib de-escalation zone from 00:00 on June 12, 2019.

As a result, the number of attacks from illegal armed groups tends to reduce.

Over the past 24 hours there has been only two shelling attacks against the settlements of Mahardeh and Souran, Hama province. The Syrian government troops adhered to the reached agreements and did not fire back.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides urges leaders of illegal armed formations operating  in the Idlib de-escalation zone to cease hostilities and move towards peaceful settlement of the situation in areas they occupy.
