Briefing by Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria (April 15, 2019)
Peaceful settlement of the conflict and rendering of comprehensive assistance are the main vectors of work in the Syrian Arab Republic.
Representatives of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation held two humanitarian actions in the settlement of Barza, Damascus province, and Marrat, Deir ez-Zor province. People in need received 1,000 food sets.
In total, since the Russian Centre for Reconciliation started settlement process, it carried out 2,098 humanitarian actions. The total weight of humanitarian cargo delivered amounts to 3,338 tons.
As part of the implementation of the decree of the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, the Syrian authorities continue to work on amnesty for those who evade from military service, including those among refugees and former members of illegal armed groups. As for April 14, 2019, in total 57,593 were granted amnesty.
Social infrastructure is being recovered. In total 31,558 houses, 845 educational facilities and 156 medical centres have been recovered. Besides, 1,031.9 km of roads have been repaired.
In order to prevent a humanitarian disaster in the Rukban refugee camp, a humanitarian corridor and the Jleb mobile checkpoint are set up, where also specially formed columns of buses are also sent for the voluntary and unimpeded return of temporarily displaced persons from the al-Tanf area to the places of their permanent residence.
The Syrian government guarantees the security of temporarily displaced persons and a simplified procedure for the restoration of documents. There are also centres for temporary accommodation for refugees.
Despite the ceasefire regime being established throughout the country, there are still cases of ceasefire regime violation by illegal armed formations in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
Over the past day terrorists have attacked Sanjeka in Latakia province and Aleppo. As a result of shelling at al-Hamdaniyah district in Aleppo six civilians and five Syrian servicemen were killed.
